Cleft Lip and Palate is a very common but most curable congenital deformity. Briefly categorized into the following types: (1) Cleft Lip, (2) Cleft Palate and (3) Cleft Lip and Palate. The ratio of clefts to normal babies is 1:700 in Asia.
- Cleft lip – Cleft(s) of the upper lip, there are two types : (i) unilateral cleft lip (ii) bilateral cleft lip
- Cleft palate – Cleft of the hard palate or even the inner soft palate.
- Cleft lip and palate – The clefts extends from the upper lip to the hard palate or even the soft palate inside the buccal cavity.
